DESCRIPTION:New for 2025! This exciting two day Mixed Media Creative Textiles event provides the opportunity to design and create a beautiful mixed media textile piece.\nThe two day workshop is for textile enthusiasts of all levels.\nDAY 1.\n• Introduction to Batik, Dissolvable fabric, Applique & Free machine embroidery.\n• Batik…a ‘resist’ method of hand dyeing by applying hot wax and dye to fabrics.\n• Free motion / free machine embroidery literally allows you to ‘draw using stitch’.\n• Dissolvable fabric is a strong, durable silk-like fabric for you to machine embroider onto and which dissolves on impact with hot water.\n• Applique. Quite simply applying one fabric onto another using various methods of application.\n• Planning your design or selecting an image from my collection (to be discussed prior to the textile weekend).\n• Preparing silk for outcome by stretching on frame.\n• Applying batik & dye as a base for applique, machine stitch & dissolvable fabric.\n• Setting up sewing machine and beginning textile outcome.\nDAY 2.\n• Production day. The entire day is spent continuing to develop textile outcomes and reviewing and refining individual textile pieces as work develops.\n• The workshops are structured and conducted in a friendly, relaxed setting with group demonstrations and individual guidance given throughout the two day event.\n• You will need to provide your own sewing machine which has the free motion facility and which you have experiencing operating.\n• Sewing threads, embroidery hoops, wooden frames for stretching silk, pins, Batik equipment and fabrics for applique are all provided. One piece of silk and dissolvable fabric 30cm x 30cm provided. Extra pieces of fabric are available on the day for a small fee. Protective aprons are also provided.\nTIME: Both days 10.30am – 4.30pm\nPRICE: £145 (includes a £45 non-refundable deposit to secure booking)\nTea / coffee and refreshments provided.\n
